​​​​​The overall mission of the M.J. Powers & Co Publishers CME program is to provide learning activities that are continually improved and motivating to participants. Our focus is to provide objective, unbiased, high-quality educational opportunities that are conceived and planned to increase competence, performance in practice, patient safety and, where possible, patient outcomes. The MJPCo CME activities concern patient medication safety and evidence of treatment efficacy relevant to clinical psychiatry or clinical child and adolescent psychiatry. 

The MJPCo CME activities are directed toward physicians and other healthcare providers, in particular, psychiatrists, child and adolescent psychiatrists and other mental health care providers. 

Our participants will report an increase in competence and an intention to change clinical behavior by applying their recently learned new knowledge in their practice.M.J. Powers & Co Publishers is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing education for physicians. Our activities are also approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) for Maintenance of Certification (MOC).​​

Annual Online Self-Assessment CME Subscription

Earn up to 30 AMA PRA Category 1 creditsTM (8 of which can be applied to self-assessment requirements) per year by reading 12 issues of Psychiatry Drug Alerts or Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Alerts, completing 12 online exam modules based on that material, and reviewing the peer comparison component. You can choose to complete the modules monthly or all at once. Your credit letter is available to print upon completion.

The American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) requires participation in ABPN-approved Self-Assessment activities relevant to either their specialty and/or subspecialty. Self-Assessment activities are a specific type of CME activity designed to help physicians recognize their current knowledge base in order to identify specific topics for gaining further knowledge.

  • Participants of the ABPN Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program need to earn self-assessment credits.
  • Diplomates in the Continuous-MOC program must earn at least 8 self-assessment CME credits per year, averaged over 3 years.
  • Diplomates in the 10-Year MOC program must earn at least 24 Self-Assessment CME credits prior to applying for recertification.
  • The ABPN has approved Psychiatry Drug Alerts and Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Alerts CME programs for self-assessment credit.
  • All CME credit certificates for MJ Powers online activities, both category 1 and self-assessment, are stored in your online testing account. In addition, you may add information on credits earned outside our program to your profile.
